Homeware Retailers driving demand on retail parks
Desktop research by King Sturge reveals that there is an estimated 4.8m ft² of live retailer requirements for out-of-town space in the UK. Retail agency partner Mark Rudman says at least half of this space is from bulky goods retailers, a complete volte face for this sector which was the most depressed during the recession. New entrants to the out-of-town market are driving demand, including Next, John Lewis, TK Maxx, Asda and Argos with their homewares brands, while the electricals sector has been reinvigorated by the arrival of Best Buy.
